The mission of STOPS is to reduce the incidence of suicide and its devastating aftermath in our community.
By fostering prevention, intervention, and postvention resources, we seek to create a community safety net for individuals and families in crisis.
STOPS was formed as a private non-profit organization in December of 2001.
The organization is comprised of volunteers
They are committed to providing community programs in an effort to lower the suicide rate in the parish as well as to ameliorate the sting of the loss of a loved one to suicide. St. Tammany Parish has one of the highest suicide rates in the state and is approximately 18% above the state average.
